The Right Start National Campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of nurturing care in the early years of a child’s life. The campaign encourages people to change how they act to promote the best development of children. It also aims to increase funding for Integrated Early Childhood Development, to improve how often people speak of it, know about and look at how good it is.
The Right Start National Campaign is a combined effort of our partners and the following Ministries:
• The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare;
• The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture; and
• The Ministry of Health and Social Services.
The campaign slogan, “Make A Child’s First Steps The Right Steps” is designed to remind everyone who is responsible for the first years of a child’s life just how important those early years are for children. This site helps everyone from mothers, fathers to grandparents and all people who help raise our children to find out things that they can use to raise children in the best way possible. The campaign focuses on five important aspects of Integrated Early Childhood Development, namely:
• Early Learning
• Safety and Security
• Responsive Care
The campaign is fully aligned with the national Integrated Early Childhood Development policy, strategic framework and national legislation protecting children’s rights and interests. This is how we all make every Namibian child’s first steps, the right steps.
